EMEA managing director, global capital marketsEDS Financial Global Industry Group Jean-Louis Bravard is managing director of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and the executive sponsor for the Global Capital Markets within EDS’ Financial Global Industry Group. As the client executive responsible for EDS’ relationships with global banks, brokerage houses and exchanges, he pursues financial and Internet opportunities with clients and prospects, provides thought leadership and advice on financial structure and sales to third-party clients, and is leading the creation of global straight-through-processing engines. Before joining EDS in 1999, Bravard was chief executive officer of Arbinet Communications, a New York-based provider of services to global telecommunications clients. During his two-year tenure, Arbinet’s annual sales grew from $9 million to $30 million. In 1996, he co-founded IFusion Com Corporation, a leader in Internet "push" technology. Bravard has also held senior management positions at VICOR Inc. and J.P. Morgan & Co., where he headed U.S. Fixed Income Research and Global Technology Research, held senior positions in Corporate Finance, and was country manager for Brazil. Bravard is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Commission on Banking and Insurance and a member of the Futures and Options Association. He is active in industry leadership and a frequent speaker on such topics as capital markets, electronic finance and Internet security. His article, "The Case for Expressive Systems" (with D. Pawson and L. Cameron), was published in the Sloan Management Review Winter 1995 issue. Bravard has a master of business administration degree from Cornell University’s Johnson School of Management and a degree in accounting and finance from Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in Paris. He is fluent in English and French and has a working knowledge of German and Portuguese. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, tennis, golf and scuba diving.
