BOARD ROOM SESSIONS

    Maria Fregosi Maria, who joined ABN AMRO in 1994, has been involved in asset securitization for 16 years. She is responsible for the development of the ABN AMRO mortgage conduit program (AMAC) and the commercial mortgage securitization program at ABN AMRO.

    In 2002, Maria became involved in an initiative to develop a securitization program for ABN AMRO's Dutch mortgage operation by leveraging knowledge of the U.S. mortgage operation. The main goal of the initiative was to improve the efficiency with which the bank sells its mortgage loans to investors via the capital markets. This was the first time ABN AMRO had ever sold prepayment risk in the European market. The €550 million Match transaction closed October 31, 2002. The deal was a tremendous success with €325 million in fixed rate notes placed with over 20 different European investors.

    Prior to joining ABN AMRO, Maria was the asset-backed security specialist at Stein, Roe & Farnham. She has also rated transactions for most of the major mortgage originators when she was part of the Structured Finance Group at Moody's Investor Service.

    Maria has a BA in Economics from the State University College of New York at and an MBA in Finance and Applied Economics from the Simon School at the University of Rochester.
