Richard is managing director and chief technology officer for Countrywide Home Loans, Inc., the leading residential mortgage lender and servicer in the U.S., and its parent company, Countrywide Financial Corporation, a diversified financial services provider. He also serves on the Executive Committee of Countrywide Financial Corporation. Richard provides technical leadership for all technology and eBusiness initiatives at Countrywide. He has direct responsibility for the Central Information Technology Division, which includes the IT Infrastructure, eBusiness Technology, Customer Relationship Management and Data Resources Management groups. The distributed IT development groups in Countrywide business divisions report to Jones on matters of architecture and standards, technology direction and major project initiatives. The Central IT Division provides support for Countrywide's technology infrastructure throughout the enterprise. This includes Data Center support, Production Control systems, Technology Research, Network Services (data and voice), Server Engineering (NT and AS/400), Groupware & Messaging, Help Desk and End User Support. The eBusiness Technology group works closely with Countrywide's marketing and business strategy experts, assists Countrywide's distributed eBusiness development units and supports all eBusiness systems infrastructure. A primary initiative of the eBusiness Technology group is the establishment of Countrywide's eBusiness architecture, standards, development and implementation methodologies. The group's responsibilities also include the creation and implementation of Web services used by all Countrywide business divisions and Web hosting services for all Countrywide sites. Richard previously served as executive vice president of enterprise architecture for the company's Information Technology Division. He began his career at Countrywide in 1995 as senior vice president of infrastructure for the IT Division. Richard established data centers and improved server infrastructure on AS/400 and Windows NT platforms. His responsibilities grew to encompass overall architecture and standards, with a focus on Internet technology and eBusiness. Previous positions include director of Computing and Communications for Technicolor, Inc., where he also served as chief technical officer. Jones led development of a national direct video distribution network for Disney Corporation's Buena Vista Home Video subsidiary, enabling fully electronic distribution to retailers nationwide. Earlier, he served as president and CEO of Bethany Computer Systems, Inc., a seller of PC, communications, networking and accounting software technologies. Richard began his career as a senior consulting partner for JNL EFT Consulting, Inc., providing EFT solutions to clients such as the Royal Bank of Canada, the Bank of Montreal and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.
