Sacha Polverini head of European Regulatory AffairsGE Mortgage Insurance
Sacha is head of European regulatory affairs for GE Mortgage Insurance. He is responsible for GEMI's regulatory efforts in Europe to increase homeownership opportunities through expanded access to low downpayment mortgage loans made available through mortgage insurance, which provides default loss protection to lenders and investors. These efforts will include establishing incentives for lenders to manage low downpayment credit exposures prudently within the context of the developing Basel II regulatory capital standards, sponsoring public/private risk-sharing partnerships, and demonstrating the value of mortgage insurance as a credit enhancement for mortgage bonds and mortgage-backed securities. Sacha is based in Brussels. He currently holds the chairmanship of the Mortgage Insurance Trade Association and represents the European Federation of National Insurance Associations at the Commission's Forum Group on European Mortgage Markets. Sacha joined GE from the European Mortgage Federation, where he was head of parliamentary and external affairs with additional responsibility for the activities of the EMF's capital market and mortgage bond committee. A graduate of University L.U.I.S.S. Guido Carli in Rome, Sacha holds a Master's degree in European Political Studies from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles.
