Bas Snijders is a director of funding at SNS bank NV, the fifth largest bank in the Netherlands. Bas is responsible for a Euro 6.5 bn funding programme this year and is a member of the management team of SNS Financial Markets, the treasury arm of the SNS Reaal Group. Under his responsibility SNS bank NV increased its EMTN programme from Euro 2 bn to Euro 20 bn in three steps since June 1999 and set up a Euro 2 bn ECP programme. In addition to senior funding, SNS Hermes securitisation programme falls under Bas' responsibility. So far Euro 2.7 billion of residential mortgages have been securitised in 4 transactions. Furthermore a Euro 1 bn EMTN programme for SNS Reaal Group was established in January 2001. Prior to joining SNS in May 1999, Bas worked for Barclays Capital in London since 1993, where he was a director responsible for marketing fixed income products and derivatives to institutional clients in Holland, Belgium and Luxemburg. Bas has been active in (investment) banking since the early 80's and has held various positions at ABN-Amro, Chase Manhattan, West LB and Barclays in the Netherlands, London and New York.
